Shifts
- Fixed shifts with start and end times, flexible shifts that count total hours only, and open shifts.
- Each shift carries its own grace, break rule, overtime settings and punch window, and can be marked as crossing midnight.
- Shifts are grouped, so an employee can be allowed a set of shifts rather than one.
Rosters and the monthly schedule
- Roster patterns: a daily cycle of any length from an anchor date (for example six days on, two off), a weekly pattern, or a monthly pattern.
- Schedule generation fills the month from each employee's assignment and roster pattern.
- Bulk assignment puts a shift or pattern on many employees at once.
- Day overrides change one employee's shift on one date without touching the pattern.
When shifts conflict, the order is fixed: a day override, then the employee's assignment, then the department or branch rule.
Detecting the shift from the punch
Where people move between shifts without a fixed roster, HRMSMax can choose the shift from the punch times — limited to the employee's assigned shift, their shift group, or all active shifts, as the company prefers.
Weekly offs and holidays
Weekly offs follow fixed days or patterns such as the second and fourth Saturday. Holidays are scoped to a legal entity, a branch or a holiday group. What happens when someone works on either — overtime, comp-off, an extra paid day — is set in the attendance rules.
What it does not do
HRMSMax schedules the patterns HR sets. It does not plan rosters from demand forecasts or optimise coverage. Employees can see their shift in self-service; roster administration is on the web.

Can employees rotate between shifts?
Yes. A roster pattern — an N-day cycle, weekly or monthly — rotates employees automatically when the month's schedule is generated, and any single day can be overridden.
How does HRMSMax know which shift a punch belongs to?
From the schedule: a day override first, then the employee's assignment, then the department or branch rule. Optionally it can detect the shift from the punch times.
Does HRMSMax plan rosters automatically?
It generates the schedule from the patterns and assignments HR sets. It does not create rosters from staffing demand.
